Bayern Munich's Uli Hoeness has no interest in signing players just to weaken title rivals.

Bayern Munich president Uli Hoeness has admitted that weakening his side's rivals is not a good enough reason to buy their players.

Bayern have been strongly linked with a move for Borussia Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski but Hoeness said that Bayern are strong enough without him.

"The fact is that we have three good strikers," Bild quotes Hoeness as saying. "We have no real need to strengthen. We have done well in the last 12 months, so it is a good idea to keep things as they are.

"Honestly, it's not our interest to weaken other clubs. We have previously signed players from rivals, but that is not as important as strengthening our own team."

Bayern are currently comfortably leading the Bundesliga and are 15 points ahead of Dortmund.
