Lee Clark: 'Chris Burke will not be leaving Birmingham City'

Birmingham City manager Lee Clark insists that midfielder Chris Burke will not be leaving the club on loan.

Birmingham City manager Lee Clark has revealed that he considers Chris Burke to be a "vital member" of the club's squad.

Burke has been linked with a loan move to Derby County, but Clark has insisted that the Scotland international will not be allowed to leave St Andrew's.

The 40-year-old told the Birmingham Mail: "From my point of view - and I can only speak from the football management side - Chris has never indicated to me that he wants to move and I have never indicated to Chris that I would like him to move.

"Without a shadow of a doubt, he's a vital member of our squad."

The former Cardiff City winger scored Birmingham's equaliser in their 1-1 draw with Ipswich Town before the international break.
