Report: Paul Lambert favours Blackburn Rovers job

In-demand manager Paul Lambert has agreed to take over at Blackburn Rovers after snubbing the Queens Park Rangers job, according to a report.

Paul Lambert has reportedly all but agreed to take on the Blackburn Rovers managerial job after being told that he will be eligible to sign new players.

The former Aston Villa boss is said to have already held initial talks with both Rovers and Queens Park Rangers, while fellow managerless side Fulham are also thought to be interested.

It is claimed by The Sun that, having discussed the vacant position with the club's controversial owners, the Scotsman has been reassured that the ongoing transfer ban will be lifted to signal the start of a promotion push.

Lambert is also thought to have lined up former Blackburn player and coach Alan Irvine to join his backroom staff, with an appointment to be officially made within the next 24 hours.

Rovers have been without a manager since parting company with Gary Bowyer, who was shown the Ewood Park exit last week following a two-year spell at the Lancashire outfit.
