Blackburn Rovers striker Yakubu has reportedly decided to abandon Ewood Park following the club's relegation to the Championship.
The Lancashire outfit dropped out of the top flight following a 1-0 defeat to Wigan Athletic earlier this month.
Reports have claimed that manager Steve Kean could lose a number of his senior players in the summer transfer window, with Yakubu expected to lead the way.
"Yak has his heart set on staying in the Premier League so it looks likely that he will be off this summer," Goal.com quotes a source as saying.
"He was really saddened by what happened at the end of the season because he had a great rapport with the fans but he is certain that he is still a Premier League striker and so he hopes that a deal will be done that suits all parties.
"There is no way that he will rock the boat because he thinks too much of his team-mates to do that but he wants common sense to prevail. He has two years left on his current contract and he is prepared to tell Steve Kean that he wants the club to let him go if a suitable offer comes in."
The 29-year-old frontman is believed to have attracted interest from newly-promoted Premier League sides Reading and Southampton.
