Tom Wade "so proud" of Blyth Spartans

Blyth Spartans manager Tom Wade says that he is "so proud" of the team after they reached the third round of the FA Cup.

Blyth Spartans manager Tom Wade has said that he is "so proud" of his team after they knocked Hartlepool United out of the FA Cup.

The non-League side, who play in the seventh tier of English football, came from a goal down to beat the League Two club 2-1 last night, securing a place in the third round of the competition.

Wade told BBC Sport: "We tried to keep the players calm at half time. We knew we would have a few chances and if we could stay in the game after 60 minutes we would turn them over.

"We have a very young side, they are a brilliant set of lads, their attitude is fantastic. It is a great night and I am so proud."

Hartlepool fired manager Paul Murray following the defeat.
