Goals from Stephane Sessegnon and Nicklas Bendtner seal victory for Sunderland away against Bolton Wanderers this afternoon.

Owen Coyle's Bolton Wanderers were unable to build upon their victory over Wigan Athletic last weekend as they slumped to a 2-0 defeat at home to Sunderland this afternoon.

Visiting Sunderland created the better chances throughout the match and were fully deserving of the three points.

The majority of the goalscoring opportunities were created after the break, but home goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen was equal to efforts from Connor Wickham and David Vaughan.

When young striker Wickham did manage to beat the Finnish keeper, his effort struck the crossbar before rebounding to safety.

However, just when it looked like the Black Cats were not going to turn their domination into a goal, Stephane Sessegnon struck with nine minutes remaining. The 27-year-old collected a header from John O'Shea before turning inside the area and shooting low past Jaaskelainen from close range.

Sessegnon played a major role in the goal that sealed the points, squaring for an unmarked Nicklas Bendtner who beat Jaaskelainen with a low shot in stoppage time.

Sunderland have now won their last five matches against Bolton.
