Sunderland boss Steve Bruce hints that summer signing Connor Wickham may start against Bolton this weekend.

Sunderland manager Steve Bruce has hinted that he may give Connor Wickham his first start against Bolton Wanderers this weekend.

The 18-year-old striker's only appearances this season have come from the substitutes' bench, but Bruce has said that he may play the summer signing from Ipswich Town up front with Nicklas Bendtner.

"[Stephane] Sessegnon created three massive chances against Arsenal, but I just wonder whether he can get us the goals we need at the moment," said Bruce.

"I know he'll create from the flanks so it's in my thoughts to put someone else up front alongside Bendtner. It could be time for Connor."

The Black Cats go into Saturday's match at the Reebok Stadium in 17th place in the Premier League table, while Bolton are one place below them.
