Bolton Wanderers to release Kevin Davies

Kevin Davies will become a free agent in the summer following confirmation that his contract at Bolton Wanderers will not be renewed.

Bolton Wanderers manager Dougie Freedman has revealed that Kevin Davies will not be offered a new contract by the club.

The 35-year-old arrived at the Reebok Stadium in 2003 and has gone on to make 407 appearances for the Trotters.

However, he will be on the look out for a new employer in the summer when his current deal with Wanderers expires.

"Kevin Davies is and always will be a Wanderers legend," Freedman told the club's official website. "I want to be fair to him as regards his future, as he deserves it. This decision means that he is now free to sort himself out with a new club in plenty of time for next season.

"I would like to thank him for his complete support and utter professionalism since I arrived. He never gives anything less than 100% in training, or when called on for first team duties and will continue to be available for selection for the remaining games of the season."

As well as for Bolton, the centre-forward has also played for Chesterfield, Southampton, Blackburn Rovers and Millwall.
