Thomas Tuchel: 'Borussia Dortmund will not sign a right-back'

Thomas Tuchel insists that Borussia Dortmund will not sign a right-back following recent injuries to defenders.

Borussia Dortmund head coach Thomas Tuchel has claimed that he has no intention of signing a right-back before the end of the transfer window.

Lukas Piszczek picked up a hip injury this week to join Erik Durm on the sidelines, and it has been suggested that Dortmund will enter the transfer market to add to their defensive options.

However, Tuchel is confident that his current squad is strong enough to cope as Sokratis Papastathopoulos prepares to play on the right of defence in Sunday's meeting with FC Ingolstadt 04.

"I didn't say that we will sign a right-back because that's definitely not the plan," the Dortmund boss told reporters.

"We rely on the speedy recovery of Piszczek and Durm. Therefore there is no need at the moment."

Dortmund kicked off the new Bundesliga season with a 4-0 victory over Borussia Monchengladbach last weekend.
