Eddie Howe will not rush Jack Wilshere into Bournemouth's starting XI

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe says that he will not rush Jack Wilshere into his first XI.

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe has insisted that he will not rush Jack Wilshere into the starting XI.

The 24-year-old joined the Cherries from Arsenal on the final day of the summer transfer window on a season-long loan.

The midfielder has not yet been given a starting spot by Howe, but he impressed when he came on as a substitute in a 1-0 win over West Bromwich Albion last weekend.

Wilshere has had a string of injury problems over the past few years, so Howe is wary of throwing him in too quickly.

"With the outstanding quality he has, there's no doubt [that we want him to start]," Sky Sports News quotes Howe as saying. "We'd like to see him in the team as quickly as possible.

"It's a delicate balance between rushing him into the team and the long term. We have to think of that. We want him to play a lot of games for us so we'll put him in when we think it's right."

Bournemouth are currently 14th in the Premier League table following one win, a draw and two defeats.
