Tommy Smith expects Mark Warburton to stay at Brentford

Tommy Smith claims that Mark Warburton will stay at Brentford despite the recent speculation surrounding the manager's future.

Brentford forward Tommy Smith has claimed that he does not expect Mark Warburton to leave the club.

Despite leading his side to a surprise playoff push this season, rumours earlier this week suggested that the club's hierarchy were considering sacking Warburton, but Smith believes that his boss will be staying at Griffin Park.

"He's a great manager, and he's done a wonderful job at Brentford," Smith told Sky Sports News.

"Initially he was general manager. He was assistant manager for a little while, now he's first-team manager, I can't speak highly enough of him.

"Will he want to leave Brentford? Will Brentford want him to go? I highly doubt that."

Brentford, who are currently sixth in the Championship, are back in action against Charlton Athletic on Saturday.
