Brentford manager Thomas Frank has questioned the red card that Josh Dasilva received in their recent defeat against Newcastle United.

Brentford manager Thomas Frank has questioned the red card that Josh Dasilva was given against Newcastle United.

The 23-year-old midfielder was sent off in the 11th minute of the game, and the Magpies went on to win 2-0 via goals from Joelinton and Joe Willock.

"I understand why it is given (but) I think it is a random situation that had no intention to make the foul. It was a situation where he tried to step over and protect the ball and move forward," Frank told Sky Sports.

"Coincidentally, he hit the player and that turned into a red card that decided the game."

The Bees dropped to 15th in the Premier League table, with just three points separating them and the relegation zone at the moment.

Brentford will be back in action on Saturday when they face Norwich City in a crucial match in the relegation battle.
