Brighton & Hove Albion forward Tomer Hemed charged with violent conduct

The Football Association charges Brighton & Hove Albion forward Tomer Hemed with violent conduct after an apparent stamp on Newcastle United defender DeAndre Yedlin.

Brighton & Hove Albion forward Tomer Hemed has been given a charge for violent conduct by the Football Association.

During the latter stages of Brighton's 1-0 victory over Newcastle United, Hemed appeared to stamp on defender DeAndre Yedlin, although replays suggested that the incident was open to interpretation.

Brighton boss Chris Hughton was quick to defend his player by insisting that the contact with Yedlin was unintentional, but the FA has taken a different view of the incident.

The governing body considers the challenge to be violent conduct, with Hemed now facing a three-match suspension should he choose not to appeal the charge.

Hemed faces the prospect of missing league fixtures with Arsenal, Everton and West Ham United.
