League One roundup: Bristol City move five points clear

Sports Mole rounds up all the action from League One, where Bristol City extend their lead at the top of the table with a win over Peterborough United.

Bristol City bounced back from losing to Sheffield United on Saturday as they moved five points clear at the top of League One with a 2-0 win over Peterborough United.

Aden Flint's close-range finish on nine minutes put Steve Cotterill's side ahead, before Kieran Agard's first goal in 11 games doubled the lead two minutes after the restart.

MK Dons moved above Swindon Town and into the second automatic promotion place as Dele Alli's 14th goal of the season was enough to earn a 1-0 win over Colchester United.

At Meadow Lane Liam Noble's goal from a clever back-heel cancelled out Jamie Murphy's fifth goal in his last six games and looked set to win Shaun Derry's Notts County a precious point against Sheffield United.

However, with just 15 minutes remaining Matt Done popped up to rescue a win for the Blades that keeps them firmly in the promotion hunt.

Elsewhere, Doncaster Rovers moved into the playoff picture after a Richie Wellens goal deep into second-half injury time completed a comeback win against Crewe Alexandra at the Keepmoat Stadium.

Dean Furman's goal on the hour mark restored parity after George Ray had put the visitors ahead inside the opening 10 minutes before Wellens grabbed the win at the death.

At the other end of the table Scunthorpe United moved away from danger as goals from Niall Canavan and Patrick Madden gave them a 2-0 win over high-flying Chesterfield.

Results in full: Bristol City 2-0 Peterborough United, Colchester United 0-1 MK Dons, Doncaster Rovers 2-1 Crewe Alexandra, Notts County 1-2 Sheffield United, Scunthorpe United 2-0 Chesterfield.
