Bristol City, Tranmere Rovers contest draw

Bristol City and Tranmere Rovers share four goals in today's 2-2 draw at Ashton Gate in League One.

Bristol City and Tranmere Rovers have shared four goals in today's 2-2 draw at Ashton Gate in League One.

The game began quietly, with neither side able to test the opposing goalkeeper in the opening 10 minutes.

However, this impasse changed in dramatic fashion in the 13th minute. Sam Baldock's cross from the right floated over Owain Fon Williams and bounced off the inside of the far post and into the net.

However, Tranmere equalised just six minutes later when Jake Cassidy fired a powerful shot into the roof of the net after latching onto a James Wallace cross.

Just after the half-hour mark, Wallace cut inside from the left-hand side, but he sent his shot wide of the far post.

A few minutes later, Matthew Kennedy's cross was flicked on by Cassidy before falling to Ryan Lowe at the back post, but he went on to miss the target from a couple of yards out.

After the restart, Baldock attempted an early shot to try to put City in the lead again, but Fon Williams had no problem in saving his effort.

On the hour mark, Wallace was able to win the ball in the Robins half, but his ambitious 25-yard shot flew over.

City went ahead for the second time in the game when Derrick Williams headed the ball in at the back post from close range in the 77th minute, but again, the visitors pegged them back.

A cross from the right-hand side wasn't properly cleared by the Robins, and this gave Jason Koumas the opportunity to take a shot. He took his chance well, with his powerful effort flying into the top corner to level the score.
