Half-Time Report: Danny Ings double sees Burnley ahead

Danny Ings scores twice as Burnley lead 2-1 against Huddersfield Town at the interval.

A Danny Ings brace means that high-flying Burnley lead at half-time against Huddersfield Town in the Championship.

Sean Dyche's men made a perfect start when, with six minutes played, David Jones's long ball found its way to Ings and the in-form striker coolly slotted the ball past keeper Alex Smithies for his 18th goal of the season.

They almost doubled their lead later in the half when Scott Arfield's fizzing shot from the edge of the box drifted just wide of the right post.

Huddersfield found an equaliser soon after when Martin Paterson got on the end of Murray Wallace's corner and beat Tom Heaton from six yards out.

Jones almost put the Clarets back in front five minutes before the break when his free kick came back of the visitors' crossbar before Keith Treacy's follow-up effort was deflected wide.

Moments later Burnley did edge ahead when full-back Kieran Trippier found Ings, who fired the ball into the top corner of Smithies net to take his tally for the campaign to 19.

Huddersfield have won their last three meetings with the Clarets, including a 2-1 win at the John Smith's Stadium in November.
