Burnley top after Scott Arfield winner

Scott Arfield's winner, 70 seconds after the interval, was enough for Burnley to see off Blackpool at Turf Moor in the Championship.

Burnley moved back to the top of the Championship with a hard fought 2-1 win against Blackpool at Turf Moor.

Sean Dyche's side started strongly and were ahead after seven minutes when a David Jones cross was met by England Under-21 international Danny Ings, who slotted the ball past Matt Gilks.

Blackpool, who have struggled of late with only three wins in 14 games going into the game, fought back and should have levelled when Barry Ferguson met Tom Ince's pinpoint cross, but pulled his shot wide.

However, they did find an equaliser after 24 minutes when Ince produced another accurate ball into the box, which Craig Cathcart nodded past Tom Heaton from close range.

Heaton was called upon again to keep Burnley on terms on the half-hour mark as he was at full stretch to stop Dan Gosling's effort.

The Clarets could have taken the lead themselves just before the break when Michael Kightly's cross was met by a glancing header from Ings, which was kept out by Gilks.

Burnley managed to edge back in front 70 seconds after the interval when Scott Arfield's effort from the edge of the box was too good for the Blackpool keeper.

Arfield then rattled the crossbar with a misplaced cross as the hosts went in search of a third goal.

He turned provider for Ings late on, but his header drifted narrowly wide of the Blackpool goal.

In the end, Burnley held on for the win and move to the top of the table after Queens Park Rangers lost at home to Leicester City.
