Warnock: 'Ashley criticism is hot air'

Cardiff City boss Neil Warnock claims that criticism of Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley is a bit of "hot air".

Cardiff City boss Neil Warnock has questioned the criticism which has been directed at Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley.

Magpies boss Rafael Benitez and the club's supporters have expressed their frustration over the outfit's business in the transfer market, with a profit of approximately £20m being made during the summer.

However, Warnock has labelled the outbursts as "hot air", claiming that Newcastle have made improvements to their squad since finishing in 10th position last season.

At a press conference, Warnock told reporters: "I think that's a bit of hot air. If you look at their squad and their players, they've improved from last year and they finished 10th last year.

"I don't know how much more they could improve. I think that's a bit tongue-in-cheek and I think Mike Ashley is an easy target 'let's blame him'."

Cardiff play host to Newcastle in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
