Cardiff City manager Neil Warnock is confident that his side will have nothing to fear this season despite suffering a 2-0 defeat to Bournemouth.

Cardiff City manager Neil Warnock has claimed that his side have got nothing to fear in the Premier League despite falling to an opening-weekend defeat to Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium this afternoon.

The Bluebirds' first match back in the top flight saw them slump to a 2-0 loss at the hands of the Cherries, with Ryan Fraser and Callum Wilson getting the goals and the latter also missing a penalty.

However, Warnock saw enough - including a missed chance for Sean Morrison to equalise - to reassure him that his side do have the ability to stay in the division this season.

"I think the start of the game, one or two were really nervous, but as the game wore on we thought, 'bloody hell, not as good as that, is it?' We haven't got to fear anything really," Warnock told reporters.

"Little bit more clinical, little bit more quality in certain areas, I think we could have tested them a lot more, but that's to be worked on really. I thought we grew into it in the second half and, if Morrison's a little bit more agile, that would have been a good equaliser and it would have been interesting for the rest of the game.

"It wasn't to be, I thought they were a little bit more clinical than us, but overall I've got to be pleased with that. I thought we went right until the end and disappointed one or two things didn't go for us."

Cardiff's second game of the season comes against Newcastle United next weekend.
