Graham Kavanagh: 'Hard work can keep Carlisle United in League One'

Carlisle United manager Graham Kavanagh says that hard work and significant improvements are required if his side are to avoid relegation from League One this season.

Carlisle United manager Graham Kavanagh has said that hard work and significant improvements are required if his side are to avoid relegation this season.

The Cumbrians fell into the League One drop zone on Saturday after losing 4-1 at Notts County - their sixth consecutive game without a win.

"I've asked the players if they were prepared to do the work and the answer was yes," Kavanagh told reporters. "But the talking has to stop. Actions are louder than words. I'm getting all the right feedback but you have to understand a lot of them have never been through this.

"The impact relegation can have on a career can take a long time to get over. It has an impact. We are in the bottom four and the only way we can improve is by working hard.

"If you can't work hard then it's an absolute waste of time. They've done that for the majority of games and all we can do is go again."

Next up for Carlisle is a home clash with relegation rivals Shrewsbury Town on Tuesday night.
