Carlisle United draw 2-2 with Wolverhampton Wanderers

Carlisle United hold Wolverhampton Wanderers to a 2-2 draw in their League One clash.

Carlisle United have held Wolverhampton Wanderers to a 2-2 draw in their League One clash this evening, with the home side twice coming from behind to earn a point.

Wolves took the lead with their first real opportunity of the game when Leigh Griffiths played in Bakary Sako just outside of the box. The midfielder taking the ball in his stride and crashed home a shot which flew into the bottom corner.

Sako was in a shooting mood in the first half and he let fly again in the 21st minute, but his effort went just wide of goal.

The hosts replied in the 30th minute as Prince Buaben was played in by Matty Robson, before shooting with his right into the bottom-left corner.

Sako tried to push Wolves back in front but his shot from the centre of the box was held comfortably by Mark Gillespie.

Wolves recovered their lead in the final stages of the half as Griffiths nodded home Scott Golbourne's cross to make it 2-1 going into the break.

Carlisle grabbed an equaliser early on in the second half as Lee Evans brought down Buaben to give Carlisle a penalty, which was efficiently dispatched by Liam Noble.

Wolves almost took the lead through substitute Jake Cassidy in the final 15 minutes, but he was denied from a tight angle by a diving Gillespie to leave the final score at 2-2.
