Celta Vigo scored an injury-time winner to secure a 2-1 win over relegation rivals Real Zaragoza this evening, moving off the bottom of the table in the process.
The visitors took the lead in the 26th minute when Apono's vicious delivery from a free kick was met by Cristian Sapunaru, who thumped his header past Javi Varas to make it 1-0.
The hosts were back level just 10 minutes later, however. Augusto Fernandez found space to cross down the flank, finding the head of Alex Lopez, who made no mistake with his finish.
Zaragoza almost restored their lead just before the hour mark when Helder Postiga latched on to a loose ball inside the area, but his curling effort towards the top corner was tipped wide by Varas.
The visitors had another good chance to make it 2-1 when Adam Pinter floated a cross into the box that Stefan Babovic connected with, but he could only send his effort just wide.
It was Celta who got the all-important winner, however, as Mario Bermejo turned in Park Chu-Young low cross from close range to hand his side all three points.
The result lifts Celta off the bottom of the table to be replaced by Zaragoza on goal difference.
