Craig Gordon: 'European performance can help Celtic domestically'

Celtic goalkeeper Craig Gordon believes that the club's performance in Europe can help them domestically in the Scottish Premiership.

Celtic goalkeeper Craig Gordon has said that the club's performance in Europe can help them make up the ground that they have lost to Scottish Premiership leaders Aberdeen.

Ronny Deila's side led twice in their UEFA Europa League tie against Ajax, but ended up drawing 2-2 after being reduced to 10 men.

"It's a good start to the campaign and I hope we can build on that," Gordon told Celtic's official website. "That's a good start away from home in Europe.

"If we can take that performance back and work as hard as we did then we will be better in the domestic games, as well."

The keeper also praised Croatian defender, Jozo Simunovic, who made his debut for the club.

"Jozo did very well. It's a difficult place to make your debut and that was a fairly decent defensive performance. The defence needs time to settle, it always does, but we will work hard at it and will come good."

Celtic are five points behind Aberdeen and host Dundee in their next league match on September 20.
