Martin O'Neill reveals Roy Keane's meeting with Celtic

Martin O'Neill confirms that Roy Keane has held talks with Celtic over their vacant managerial role.

Republic of Ireland boss Martin O'Neill has confirmed that Celtic have held talks with Roy Keane over their vacant managerial position.

Keane, who is the assistant to O'Neill at his national side, held an "informal chat" with the Bhoys' hierarchy, who are looking for a new boss following Neil Lennon's departure last week.

O'Neill is quoted as saying by The Mirror: "I had a call from [Celtic owner] Dermot Desmond wanting to speak to Roy.

"I am sure he was wanting a chat, as a club like Celtic might not come around too often.

"It was just a really informal chat, I think. Of course I'd be disappointed if Roy was to leave."

Keane briefly played for Celtic following his departure from Manchester United in 2005.
