Celtic sign Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Dorus de Vries on two-year deal

Celtic confirm the signing of Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Dorus de Vries, 35, on a two-year deal.

Celtic have confirmed the signing of goalkeeper Dorus de Vries from Nottingham Forest on a two-year deal.

The 35-year-old has previous experience of playing in Scotland with Dunfermline prior to a move to Swansea City, where he worked under current Hoops manager Brendan Rodgers.

After four years in South Wales, he moved on to Wolverhampton Wanderers before heading to Forest, where he has played for the past three seasons.

"I need a goalkeeper who, when we have possession, we have 11 players," Rodgers said after Celtic's 2-0 friendly defeat by Inter Milan in Limerick on Saturday.

"I need someone who can distribute the ball and pass it. Dorus is as good as I've seen at that in all my travels.

"He comes into what is already a good number of keepers here and his game is perfectly suited to how I want to work. He's there to push Craig Gordon."

De Vries is expected to be in the Celtic squad for Wednesday's Champions League playoff first-leg tie against Hapoel Be'er Sheva at Celtic Park.
