Frank Lampard hails Fernando Torres following the striker's vital goal against Barcelona.

Chelsea's Frank Lampard has hailed teammate Fernando Torres following the striker's performance against Barcelona in last night's Champions League contest.

The Spaniard came off the subs bench to score the deciding goal in the semi-final second leg, levelling the scores at 2-2 to give the Blues a 3-2 aggregate victory.

Lampard admitted that he never had any doubt that Torres would find the back of the net when the striker ran clear of the Barcelona defence in the 90th minute.

"He completely deserves it. His behaviour and professionalism has been impeccable. It's tough as a striker as you are judged on goals but at the same time big players produce in big games and big moments," The Mirror quotes Lampard as saying.

"When he ran clear you knew the outcome – and that's what you get from the best."

Chelsea will face Bayern Munich in the final on May 19, following the German side's penalty shootout victory over Real Madrid.
