John Terry will be permitted to lift the Europa League trophy if Chelsea are successful this evening, despite missing the game through injury.

Chelsea captain John Terry will be allowed to lift the Europa League trophy if his side beat Benfica in tonight's final, despite missing out through injury.

The defender will play no part in the showpiece final after suffering an ankle injury in last Saturday's 2-1 win against Aston Villa.

However, should Rafael Benitez's side be successful against their Portuguese opponents, then Terry will be permitted to lift the trophy with vice-captain Frank Lampard.

The match is the second European final in as many seasons that Terry has been forced to miss, after he was suspended for last year's Champions League triumph over Bayern Munich.

Belgian playmaker Eden Hazard and full-back Ryan Bertrand will both also miss the game after suffering a hamstring injury and a knee injury respectively.

Victor Moses is also a doubt for the Blues.
