Europa League roundup: Villarreal thrash FC Zurich

Sports Mole rounds up all the action from tonight's Europa League late kickoff games.

Villarreal have secured an emphatic 4-1 win against FC Zurich in their Europa League Group A clash at the Estadio El Madrigal this evening.

Cani opened the scoring for the Yellow Submarine in the seventh minute, but Marco Schonbachler equalised with two minutes left in the first half.

However, the hosts quickly turned the screw on their opponents, goals from Luciano Vietto, Bruno Soriano and Giovani dos Santos dispatching the Swiss outfit with ease.

In the same group, Borussia Monchengladbach thrashed Apollon Limassol 5-0 thanks to an Ibrahima Traore brace and additional strikes by Branimir Hrgota and Patrick Herrmann, with an Angelis Angeli own goal completing the rout.

Group B saw both Club Brugge and Copenhagen score at the death to share the spoils in a 1-1 draw, while Torino saw off HJK 2-0 thanks to goals by Cristian Molinaro and Amauri.

There were high scores in Group C as Besiktas recorded a comprehensive 4-0 win away at Partizan, former Chelsea striker Demba Ba helping himself to a goal in Serbia.

Meanwhile, 10-man Tottenham Hotspur routed Asteras Tripolis 5-1, youngster Harry Kane netting a hat-trick and conceding a soft goal after taking over from dismissed Hugo Lloris in between the posts right at the end of the game.

In Group D, Celtic laboured to a 2-1 win against Astra Giurgiu, scoring twice in the latter stages of the game before enduring a tense finish thanks to a Gabriel Enache goal with nine minutes to go.

Red Bull Salzburg, meanwhile, saw off Dinamo Zagreb 4-2, Brazilian striker Alan bagging himself a hat-trick as the Austrians raced into a four-goal lead, before replies by the visitors added respectability to the scoreline.

Group E saw Dinamo Moscow win 2-1 away at Estoril Praia, while PSV Eindhoven were undone by a late Nikolaos Karelis to see the points shared in a 1-1 draw.

Finally, Group F saw Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk succumb 1-0 to Qarabag FK, while Serie A giants Inter Milan could only draw 0-0 at home to Saint-Etienne.
