Jose Mourinho slams Andre Schurrle, Mohamed Salah performances

Jose Mourinho hits out at the performances of Andre Schurrle and Mohamed Salah, saying that they have made his weekend team selection an "easy" choice.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has criticised the performances of Andre Schurrle and Mohamed Salah in last night's slender League Cup victory over Shrewsbury Town, saying that they have made his next team selection an "easy" decision.

The Blues duo struggled to make an impact as Chelsea battled to a 2-1 win at Greenhous Meadow, eventually securing their spot in the quarter-finals of the competition after Jermaine Grandison headed into his own net nine minutes from time.

Following the game Mourinho admitted that he was not happy with his fringe players' showing, suggesting that he will leave them out for Saturday's visit of Queens Park Rangers.

"I expect players to give me problems," he is quoted as saying by ESPN. "I love problems. But a lot of them didn't and they've made it easy to choose my team for Saturday.

"If players who played 90 minutes two days ago were fantastic I expect people who are not playing a lot to raise the level to create me problems. They didn't create me big problems."

Asked if Schurrle and Salah had disappointed him in particular, Mourinho responded: "Yes."

Schurrle joined Chelsea from Bayer Leverkusen last year, while Salah made the move to Stamford Bridge in January for a fee of £11m.
