Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel has suggested that Timo Werner will play some part of Wednesday's EFL Cup tie against Tottenham Hotspur.
The Germany international has been absent since December 11 after testing positive for coronavirus, the 25-year-old taking longer to recover than several of his teammates who returned the same result four days after that fixture.
However, having been able to return to training in recent days, Werner is likely to make an appearance in the last-four showdown with the club's London rivals.
Speaking at a pre-match press conference, Tuchel said: "Timo Werner trained yesterday. We have one more training to go. He feels much, much better, which is a good thing.
"He did full training with full intensity with no reaction so far. So if training goes well, we can have him on the bench or give him some minutes."
Tuchel also revealed that Andreas Christensen was an injury doubt due to an ongoing issue with his back, while Trevoh Chalobah will miss out with a hamstring problem.
