Ashley Cole apologises to FA chairman David Bernstein over the offensive remarks that he made towards the Football Association on Twitter.

FA chairman David Bernstein has revealed that Ashley Cole has personally apologised to him regarding remarks that he made towards the Football Association on Twitter.

The Chelsea defender labelled the FA a "bunch of twats" on Friday after the reasons for John Terry's four-match ban were revealed.

Cole soon apologised for the tweet later on Friday afternoon, but he received an FA misconduct charge relating to the matter on Monday.

Bernstein said: "He came to see on Monday night and apologised to me personally.

"He showed real contrition. He said he was really sorry."

The tweet and subsequent charge could also prevent Cole from participating in England's match with San Marino on Friday evening.
