Petr Cech has fired a warning to Chelsea's Premier League rivals by claiming that the Blues are yet to reach first gear in the title race.
Jose Mourinho's men currently sit two points adrift of co-leaders Liverpool and Arsenal at the summit of England's top flight division.
The West London outfit have slumped to six defeats in all competitions this season under the Portuguese coach, but Cech says that the team will gradually improve and capitalise on their "big chance" of domestic supremacy.
He told reporters: "We are right up there - we are two points. We don't depend on anyone else.
"If we win our games we have a big chance of winning the title so it's very positive and we know that we haven't hit the best level of this team yet.
"We are improving and hopefully that will show."
Chelsea, who drew 0-0 with Arsenal on Monday, will host Swansea City at Stamford Bridge this afternoon.
