Cesc Fabregas wants Chelsea to make 'statement' at Manchester City

Cesc Fabregas urges Chelsea to 'send a message' to their Premier League title rivals by beating Manchester City.

Cesc Fabregas has called on his Chelsea teammates to "send out a message" to their Premier League rivals by beating Manchester City at Eastlands.

The champions take on City at Eastlands this afternoon on the back of a lacklustre 2-2 draw with Swansea City in their 2015-16 opener last Saturday.

Six days previous, Jose Mourinho's side went down 1-0 to Arsenal in the Community Shield, and Fabregas feels that it is time for the title holders to remind the doubters of their quality.

"Obviously we want to send out a message. But you cannot say if we win this game that we will win the title or if Manchester City win they will win the title," he told Sky Sports News.

"Last season we played two games with them and there were two draws - both 1-1. Both teams respected each other in both games.

"We have a plan and hopefully we will play our game the way we want to."
