Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich reportedly considers offering interim manager Rafael Benitez a new long-term contract at Stamford Bridge.

Rafael Benitez is reportedly on course to become Chelsea's permanent manager.

The 52-year-old Spaniard signed a six-month deal at Stamford Bridge in November, when he took charge on an interim basis following the sacking of Roberto Di Matteo.

Chelsea failed to win during their first three matches under Benitez, but they have since recorded three consecutive victories in the Premier League.

According to The Sun, Blues owner Roman Abramovich is impressed with Benitez's management style and is considering offering the former Liverpool boss a new long-term contract.

Chelsea currently sit third in the Premier League table, 11 points behind leaders Manchester United with a game in hand.
