Sacked Chelsea manager Antonio Conte will sue the club over a loss of earnings due to the amount of time it took to sack him, according to a report.

Antonio Conte reportedly intends to take legal action against former employers Chelsea because of the amount of time it took to sack him.

The Italian was finally given his marching orders last week, 55 days after the Blues' 2017-18 campaign ended with victory in the FA Cup final.

Chelsea stalled over their decision as Maurizio Sarri, the favoured candidate to succeed Conte at Stamford Bridge, was still technically under contract with Napoli.

Only after buying out Sarri's contract could the Premier League giants push ahead with dismissing their manager of two years, and The Times claims that a court case may now be forthcoming.

Conte, already entitled to a £9m compensation package, is said to be 'furious and disgusted' that Chelsea waited nearly two months to make the call, which he believes cost him the chance to take up another job in the early weeks of the summer.

The report suggests that the 48-year-old's legal team will fight for loss of earnings, with Conte fearful that he will not find another position until next year.
