Chelsea chief executive Ron Gourlay says that the club will decide on whether to make Roberto Di Matteo the permanent Blues boss after the Champions League final.

Chelsea chief executive Ron Gourlay has claimed that the former English champions will not make a decision on Roberto Di Matteo's position at the club until after the season.

The former West Bromwich Albion coach is favourite to take the permanent job at Stamford Bridge after launching the Blues to an FA Cup final, where they defeated Liverpool to take the trophy, as well as leading the side to the Champions League final following a dismal start to the season under Andre Villas-Boas.

"The club said from day one when he came in as interim manager that we would assess things at the end of the season," said Gourlay. "We've not changed our approach.

"Robbie is completely on board with that and the last person who's going to put any pressure on the team at this stage is me."

Chelsea must defeat Bayern Munich in the European final next weekend in order to compete in the Champions League next season.
