Former Chancellor of the Exchequer George Osborne is reportedly involved in Todd Boehly's bid to buy Chelsea.

Todd Boehly has reportedly attempted to boost his bid to buy Chelsea by involving former Chancellor of the Exchequer George Osborne.

With The Ricketts Family withdrawing their interest earlier this week, there are now three candidates remaining in the race to take over from Roman Abramovich.

If reports are to be believed, the consortium put together by LA Dodgers co-owner Boehly has been regarded as one of the frontrunners for a number of weeks.

Nevertheless, according to Sky News, Boehly has drafted in Osborne, a Chelsea supporter, to take on an advisory role.

The report claims that Osborne is friends with Lord Finkelstein, someone who stands to benefit with a place on the Chelsea board if Boehly edges out the consortiums of Martin Broughton and Stephen Pagliuca.

Raine Group, the US merchant bank who are overseeing matters, are currently assessing the final proposals of the final three.
