Callum Hudson-Odoi has stepped up his recovery from an Achilles injury by featuring for Chelsea Under-23s on Saturday afternoon.
After being sidelined since the closing weeks of last season, Hudson-Odoi got some minutes under his belt for the second-string Blues side against Brighton & Hove Albion earlier this month.
The 18-year-old was given a second appearance against Southampton, with the winger getting on the scoresheet in the 2-0 victory at St Mary's.
The England international, as well as Reece James, was substituted with 15 minutes remaining, leaving Frank Lampard to decide when to hand the pair an opportunity in the first team.
While neither of the academy graduates will feature against Liverpool on Sunday, they could potentially be named in the squad for Wednesday's EFL Cup tie with Grimsby Town.
