John Terry 'offered coaching job by former club Chelsea'

A report claims that club legend John Terry has been offered £800,000 a year to manage Chelsea's Under-23s side.

John Terry has verbally agreed to return to former club Chelsea as their Under-23s manager, according to a report.

The 37-year-old is expected to officially hang up his boots in the coming weeks after turning down the chance to prolong his career in Russia with Spartak Moscow.

Terry has admitted in the past that he would love to manage Chelsea's senior side in the future, having spent more than two decades at Stamford Bridge prior to joining Aston Villa last year.

According to The Sun, the club legend has been given an £800,000-a-year deal to help with the development of Chelsea's next batch of youngsters.

However, the 37-year-old must still complete his UEFA coaching badges before he can officially replace Jody Morris in the dugout.

A source is quoted by the publication as saying: "John has made no bones about the fact he's keen to get into management and obviously Chelsea has always been the dream.

"He has been in talks with the boss for the past few weeks and has verbally agreed the deal. It will only come to fruition though once he has finished his badges. An as-yet undecided manager will take over in the interim."

Morris stepped down from his position in the summer to join Chelsea favourite Frank Lampard at Derby County.
