Romelu Lukaku: 'I would welcome Wayne Rooney, Samuel Eto'o challenge'

Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku insists that he would relish the challenge of competing for a place in the starting lineup with either Wayne Rooney or Romelu Lukaku.

Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku has insisted that he would not be "scared" for his place in the club's squad should the Blues sign Wayne Rooney or Samuel Eto'o.

The Blues have been strongly linked with both frontmen, but Lukaku has revealed that he would welcome the challenge of playing with either player if they improved the side.

The 20-year-old told Chelsea TV: "Every player wants to be in the best team that there is.

"If a player can improve us, why not? Samuel Eto'o, Wayne Rooney, I have heard everyone. I am not scared. Let them come."

The Belgian international has featured off the bench in Chelsea's opening two Premier League games of the season.
