John Obi Mikel: 'We'll show Sydney why we're Premier League champions'

Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel urges the team to show Sydney FC why they are Premier League champions in Tuesday night's post-season friendly.

Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel has called on his teammates to show A-League side Sydney FC why they are Premier League champions.

Jose Mourinho's side will take on their Australian opponents Down Under on Tuesday night at the ANZ Stadium as part of the Blues' post-season tour.

Around 10,000 fans watched Chelsea train on Monday and 83,000 spectators are expected to fill the ground for the friendly against Sydney, who suffered a 1-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.

"We're here to play well and show why we're the champions," Mikel told Chelsea's official website. "We're used to big crowds and good atmospheres, so we're looking forward to that and it was nice to see so many fans come to watch us training as well.

"So far it's been a good trip. I'm feeling a little jet lag since we arrived in Sydney, so I've been resting and sleeping a lot, but it will be a great game. Sydney had a good game against Spurs and will want to do even better against us."

Chelsea won the league by eight points.
