Steven Naismith: 'Hopefully I showed my worth with hat-trick against Chelsea'

Everton forward Steven Naismith hopes that his hat-trick against Premier League champions Chelsea proves his worth to the Merseyside club.

Everton frontman Steven Naismith has suggested that his hat-trick against Chelsea should prove his worth to the Merseyside club.

The 28-year-old was introduced as an early substitute at Goodison Park, and went on to score with both feet and his head in the Toffees' memorable win over the Premier League champions.

"There was some interest in me on transfer deadline day and it's always hard when you're not playing but the manager decided he wanted to keep me. Hopefully I showed my worth today," Naismith told BT Sport after the clash.

The result sees Roberto Martinez and his men pick up their second win of the new season.
