Alan Pardew: 'Chelsea win for Mike Ashley'

Alan Pardew dedicates Newcastle United's 2-0 win over Chelsea to the club's owner Mike Ashley.

Alan Pardew has dedicated Newcastle United's 2-0 victory over Chelsea to the club's owner Mike Ashley.

Ashley has come under criticism for many decisions, including the appointment of Joe Kinnear as director of football.

However, Pardew has said that today's victory - inspired by second-half Yoan Gouffran and Loic Remy goals - should be dedicated to all Newcastle fans, including Ashley.

"We've got a great spirit in the group and I think we've played well," Pardew told BT Sport.

"We are together and this win is for Mike Ashley and all Newcastle fans, because believe it or not, he is a fan.

"I'm pleased for the fans. This was a message today that we are alive and kicking."

The win has lifted Newcastle up to ninth place in the Premier League table.
