Sports Mole's WAG of the week: Toni Poole

Chelsea captain John Terry hit the headlines again last night. Thankfully for his wife and WAG of the week Toni Poole, on this occasion it was for footballing reasons.

Yesterday evening John Terry once again made backpage news with his sending off during Chelsea's 2-2 draw with Barcelona in the Nou Camp.

With a place in the Champions League final at stake, the Chelsea skipper inexplicably lodged his knee into the back of Barca striker Alexis Sanchez, resulting in an early bath for the 31-year-old.

It is not the first time that Terry has made headlines for actions either on or off the pitch - just ask his wife Toni Poole.

The couple became an item in 2000 when Terry was part of Chelsea's trainee scheme.

What has followed in the last 12 years would make an intriguing soap opera to say the very least.

While there have been numerous reports of affairs, a wedding, the birth of twins, the loss of the captain's armband and court cases for assault and racist remarks, there is little doubt as to what the couple are best known for.

In late 2009, Terry reportedly had a four-month affair with the former girlfriend of ex-Chelsea teammate Wayne Bridge.

His infidelity with Vanessa Perroncel reached the tabloids in early 2010, leaving the couple's marriage hanging by a thread. Crisis talks in Dubai followed and the pair appear to have put the incident behind them - to the point where the renewing of their wedding vows was mentioned.

While Terry's latest mishap would have been the hot topic over the breakfast table once again this morning, you get the impression Toni will be relieved that it is for footballing reasons only!
