Head coach Thomas Tuchel has acknowledged that Chelsea do not "feel secure" in their current third-place standing in the Premier League.
On the back of losing to rivals Arsenal by a 4-2 scoreline in midweek, Chelsea now hold just a five-point advantage in the race for a top-four finish.
However, while dismissing that the Blues should feel favourites to secure Champions League football, Tuchel has hinted that he always want his players to perform with 'an edge'.
Speaking to reporters at a press conference, Tuchel said: 'We never feel secure. I never feel secure. Nobody should feel secure in the Premier League.
"Feeling secure does not keep you on the edge. Feeling secure is a very thin line to being lazy or not being fully alert. I never feel safe in any part of the season."
Chelsea are currently preparing to host West Ham United on Sunday afternoon, before their attention will turn to facing Manchester United four days later.
