Chelsea defender Alex has insisted that he will take a pay cut to return to Brazil if he cannot secure a lucrative move to Europe in January.
The Brazilian defender, 29, handed in a transfer request at the Blues earlier in the season after becoming despondent with life under Andre Villas-Boas, and has admitted that he would be happy to return home.
"I knew when I asked for a transfer I wouldn't get the same salary in Brazil as I get at Chelsea. It will be hard to even come close," Alex told The Sun.
"The Brazilian league is very good. Unless something special comes along I'll go home."
Alex has been capped 18 times by Brazil.
