Former Chelsea striker Nicolas Anelka believes that Didier Drogba could remain at Stamford Bridge for another season.

Former Chelsea striker Nicolas Anelka believes that his ex-teammate Didier Drogba will choose to stay at Stamford Bridge next season as opposed to joining him at Shanghai Shenhua.

The 33-year-old, who divides his playing time with coaching for the Chinese Super League side, has been confident in recent months that he would be reunited with Drogba in the summer. However, it now appears that the Ivorian has made other plans.

"Even if Drogba finally chooses to stay with Chelsea, that can only prove Drogba himself wanted to stay and Chelsea also wanted to keep him," Anelka told online.sh.cn.

"If Drogba cannot come to Shanghai, then there are no regrets because the world still has many other fine players."

Drogba comes to the end of his current contract with the Blues at the end of the season.
