Atletico Madrid re-sign Filipe Luis from Chelsea on four-year deal

Former Spanish champions Atletico Madrid re-sign Brazilian full-back Filipe Luis from Chelsea on a four-year deal.

Atletico Madrid have re-signed full-back Filipe Luis from Chelsea, just one year after the Brazilian left for Stamford Bridge.

The 29-year-old played a key role in Atletico's La Liga title success during the 2013-14 season, and earned a move to the Blues that summer.

Luis struggled to displace Cesar Azpilicueta in the starting XI at Stamford Bridge, however, and reports linking him with a return to his former club started to gather pace in the final weeks of the season.

The move has now been confirmed by Atletico, who are believed to have paid in the region of £15m to re-sign the left-back on a four-year contract.

"We all know Filipe Luis. We strengthen ourselves with one of the most talented wingers in the world. He already knows our club and our way of playing so he will adapt quickly," Atletico sporting director Jose Luis Perez Caminero told the club's official website.

Luis helped Chelsea win the Premier League title last season.
