Barcelona identify Villarreal's Pau Torres as an alternative to Manchester City's Eric Garcia, according to a report.

Barcelona will reportedly attempt to sign Villarreal's Pau Torres this summer if they are unable to secure a deal for Manchester City's Eric Garcia.

The Catalan giants are said to be keen to acquire a new central defender ahead of the 2020-21 campaign, and Garcia has been strongly linked with a return to Camp Nou.

According to Marca, the Spaniard will soon make a decision over a potential new deal with City, who have used him on a number of occasions since the lockdown period.

The report claims that Barca have a contingency plan, though, with Torres identified as the ideal signing should a deal for Garcia fail to materialise in the coming weeks.

Torres enjoyed an impressive 2019-20 campaign for the Yellow Submarine, contributing two goals and two assists in 36 appearances in all competitions.

The Spain international, who has also been linked with Chelsea and Man City, is believed to have a €50m (£45.6m) release clause in his current deal, which is due to run until the summer of 2023.
