Rafael Benitez remains tight-lipped on the future of Frank Lampard, who scored again in Chelsea's 4-1 win over Wigan at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea interim manager Rafael Benitez has strongly hinted that Frank Lampard's future is out of his hands.

The 34-year-old midfielder netted in their 4-1 win over Wigan Athletic this afternoon to move to within six goals of Bobby Tambling's scoring record for the Blues.

Lampard's Stamford Bridge contract expires in the summer and the Blues board have yet to offer him a new deal.

Benitez praised Lampard's display against the Latics but suggested that he is not in control of the England international's Chelsea future.

When asked if Lampard's contract is his decision, Benitez said: "What do you think? It is very clear that my position is that Frank is doing very well.

"Hopefully he can score another 20 goals and I will be really pleased."

Benitez is also only under contract with the European champions until the end of the season.
